Administration

Many times throughout the year, the administration group looks for volunteers to help with events such as The St. Paddy’s Day Gala, which is held on St. Patrick’s Day. Or to help represent Catholic Charities at fairs. Please click on the specific descriptions below for more information.

Special Events Assistant: To provide occasional assistance in planning, organizing and staffing special events for Catholic Charities

Agency Representative: To provide staffing at agency fairs, distribution of agency literature to schools, parishes, and other locations

Marian House

There are many opportunities for volunteers at the Marian House complex:

Marian House Life Support Center supports and empowers pregnant women and families to provide a nurturing and safe environment for their children. For a detailed description of volunteer job placements, please click on the job link below:

  • Shopping Area Monitor: Provides assistance with material goods to Life Support Center clients and monitors goods leaving the shopping area
  • Donations Pick-Up Volunteer: Pick up and deliver donations to the Life Support Center using own vehicle.
  • Donation Assistant: Assists with and maintains organization of clothing bank storeroom and materials goods which are received as donations.
  • Client Advocate: To assess needs and provide material goods distribution, referrals, and information to the Life Support Program clients.

Marian House Client Services and Community Outreach provide client services and Community Outreach services, which brings a variety of goods and resources to those in outlying areas who can’t come to us. For a detailed description of volunteer job placements, please click on the job link below:

  • Emergency Services Technician: Assists Client Services Manager in screening, assessing, and coordinating needed services.
  • Donation Assistant: Assists with and maintains organization of clothing bank store room and material goods with are received as donations.

Marian House Soup Kitchen, open 365 days of the year, is operated by a small Catholic Charities staff and about 40 volunteers a day. They represent various organizations, churches, corporations, the military, and individuals. Volunteers give generously of their time to help prepare and serve donated food to hungry people from all walks of life.   • Volunteer Supervisor: General Purpose: To assist the Operations Manager with supervision of daily meal preparation, serving and clean-up.
  • Volunteer Receptionist: General Purpose: To answer incoming telephone calls for the main Soup Kitchen telephone and handle inquiries about the Soup Kitchen or forward questions to the appropriate staff member as necessary.
  • Meal Volunteer: General Purpose: To prepare, serve, and clean-up main meal at Marian House Soup Kitchen under supervision of Operations Manager.
  • Donation Pick Up Driver: General Purpose: To assist Operations Managers with regularly scheduled pick up of donations of food, supplies, or equipment.
  • Volunteer Liaisons: General Purpose: As a Marian House Volunteer Liaison, represent the CSPD through interactions with citizens who need assistance, providing information and referral to community resources and take miscellaneous police reports for lost or stolen items.

Age Requirements for volunteering at Marian House:

  • Young Adults aged 13 – 15 may volunteer with a guardian
  • Young adults aged 16+ may volunteer alone
  • Children 12 and under may not volunteer in the Marian House facility. We will be glad to work with this age group in organizing food drives or other appropriate volunteer opportunities.

Family Immigration Services

There are currently 4 positions for volunteers in the Family Immigration Services area:

  • Teacher: To assist Family Immigration Services in providing services and ESL instruction to the students twice a week. Training is provided.
  • Teacher’s Aide: To assist Family Immigration Services in providing services and instruction to the students by assisting the volunteer teacher in the classroom. Participation may be once or twice a week. Training is provided and knowledge in a language other than English is not required.
  • Childcare Assistant:  To assist Family Immigration Services’ childcare providers in childcare services provided for the children of students enrolled in the ESL program
  • Office AssistantOffice Assistant: To provide support to the program including organizing teaching materials, assisting the site supervisor on class nights and general office help.  Speakers of other languages appreciated.

Life Connections

  • Cradle Care Homes  are certified Family Foster Care Homes for the interim, temporary care of a newborn/infant (up to 12 months of age) for the purpose of providing twenty-four (24) hour family care when parents have yet to choose an adoptive family or they still need time to make their decision.  Cradle Care Application
  • Currently there are no Mentor volunteer positions available.

Parish Social Ministries

Working in the justice arm of the Church requires tenacity, courage, and a great deal of passion to take on the tough issues facing our world and Church today. The mission and work of this office is guided by Gospel principles and directives from Catholic Social Doctrine. Never boring and always a challenge, we are looking for others to join in the journey to help build the kingdom of God. We are continuing to develop programs whcih support the mission by creating area focus teams.
