Catholic Charities USA President Named to The NonProfit Times’ Power and Influence Top 50
Rev. Larry Snyder, president of Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), has been named as one of the nation’s top nonprofit executives of 2009 by The NonProfit Times (NPT). This is the second straight year for Fr. Snyder to be recognized on the list. The newspaper’s 12th annual “Power and Influence Top 50” illustrates the importance of community service and the critical role volunteers play in transforming society.
“He believes poverty in the U.S. can be cut in half by 2020,” NPT stated. “He has the worldwide resources as part of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, a council that manages the church’s charitable activities around the world, and has infiltrated the U.S. federal governments’ working groups on the sector.”
Fr. Snyder joins the ranks of Bill Gates, Co-Founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Marguerite Kondracke, President & CEO of America’s Promise Alliance; Brian Gallagher, President & CEO of United Way of America; and John Seffrin, Chief Executive Officer of the American Cancer Society on the Top 50 list.
“I am honored to be listed among these leaders,” said Father Snyder. “Such recognition speaks to the respect and high regard in which the entire Catholic Charities network is held. It is a tribute to our work to reduce poverty in America, and our service to nearly 8 million people in need a year.”
